SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies Corp.) is an American aerospace company founded in 2002 by Elon Musk. Its primary goal is to make spaceflight significantly cheaper and ultimately transform humanity into a multiplanetary species, starting with establishing a permanent settlement on Mars. To achieve this goal, the company has relied on reusable rockets from the outset, marking one of the biggest revolutions in modern spaceflight. Their first major success was the Falcon 1 rocket, which in 2008 became the first privately-owned liquid-fueled rocket to successfully launch a payload into orbit. Then came the Falcon 9, the company's most sought-after rocket, capable of returning its first stage to Earth or a sea platform after launch. Thanks to the reusability of the same stage, launch costs have dropped significantly, and launches themselves have become increasingly frequent. In July 2026, one of the Falcon 9 boosters completed its 36th successful flight—a world record for orbital rockets. (Space) The Dragon and Crew Dragon spacecraft were another significant achievement. Cargo Dragon regularly delivers cargo to the International Space Station, and Crew Dragon became the first privately owned crewed spacecraft to regularly transport astronauts from NASA and other space agencies. Today, Crew Dragon is the only American spacecraft capable of delivering crews to the ISS without the use of Russian Soyuz spacecraft. SpaceX's most ambitious project is Starship. It is a fully reusable, super-heavy-lift transport system, approximately 120 meters tall, consisting of the Super Heavy booster and the Starship spacecraft itself. It is designed to deliver over 100 tons of cargo into orbit, and to fly to the Moon, Mars, and potentially even further. If the program is successful, the cost of launching cargo into space could be reduced by an order of magnitude compared to current rockets. NASA selected Starship as the lunar lander for the Artemis program. (SpaceX.com.pl) In addition to rockets, SpaceX has created the world's largest satellite network, Starlink. It consists of thousands of satellites in low-Earth orbit and provides high-speed internet to virtually the entire globe. Starlink is already used not only by regular users, but also by ships, aircraft, scientific expeditions, and government organizations. Most Falcon 9 launches today are dedicated to the launch of new satellites of this system. (Space) SpaceX's unique feature is its high degree of vertical integration. The company develops and manufactures most of its rocket components, engines, spacecraft, and software in-house, allowing it to quickly implement changes and significantly accelerate the development of new technology. This approach has helped it become the world leader in orbital launches and a major contractor for NASA and commercial customers. Today, SpaceX is considered the most influential private space company in the world. Not only does it regularly deliver people and cargo into orbit, but it's also actively developing technologies that seemed like science fiction just a few decades ago: fully reusable super-heavy rockets, mass production of satellites, orbital infrastructure, and preparations for manned expeditions to the Moon and Mars. If Starship lives up to expectations, this system could become the foundation of a new era of exploration of the Solar System, paving the way for the first permanent human settlements beyond Earth. #nasa #spacex #elonmusk #astronaut
