@antonia_investing: There are now more than 5,000 ISA millionaires in the UK, and that number is rising each year. Yet around half of UK adults still regularly buy lottery tickets, while only about one in four actively invest in an ISA. One approach relies on luck. The other relies on consistency, time and tax-efficient investing. The maths won’t feel exciting at first, but it’s far more reliable over the long term. Sources: HMRC ISA statistics (latest available, 2022–23) via FOI request reported by InvestEngine Gambling Commission participation data Investing Insiders analysis (2026) Figures are illustrative and assume long-term returns of 5% to 9%. Returns are not guaranteed and will vary. Investments can go down as well as up and you may get back less than you invest. This is not financial advice.
5000 ISA millionaires. Or 5000 ISAs with £1m plus?

I have about £5k in a S/S isa, I prefer to keep my money in a Sipp for the tax benefits but I have reached the age when I can have it at any time.

This concepts great but times the issue to the average Jo. It’s non refundable and nobody know their amount so the often want to live in the mean time. Probably doesn’t help either that if something does happen in the mean time their loved ones will be penalised for their planning and consistency.
