Key word is “someone”. A pet is just that, “a pet” / animal. In the case of “the law”; regardless of how we the people look at our pets as being part of the family; by definition, a pet is still an animal. An animal is not defined as “someone”. Good case with possible loopholes favoring both sides. but I don’t see this being a win for the Petitioner.
