@dralexandravolo: New 2026 ACC/AHA cholesterol guidelines just came out — and the message is clear: Lower LDL earlier and more aggressively. Key updates include: • Earlier cholesterol screening • Universal testing of Lipoprotein(a) • Additional markers like ApoB • Lower LDL cholesterol targets for high-risk patients • More aggressive prevention of cardiovascular disease Statins remain the first-line therapy and I do support early treatment when appropriate. Personally, I tried three different statins and could not tolerate them, which is why I’m now on a PCSK9 inhibitor (Repatha).
