R134a is standardized in car from 1997. it does cool depending how much is being put in. manufacture suggested one can 1 5 can. will definitely cool it. Pump work abit more harder.

R12 did not and does not damage no ozone layer. Its just that Dupont after 10 or so years loose rights to the patents they hold and come up with new gasses. Nothing to do with anything other than profit.

No , it’s not r12 or r123a and gm 1234a. From the factory. Most systems haven’t been evacuated sufficiently. The accumulator or drier bottle may have been open to the atmosphere or even lines or evaporator. Sometimes the office can have degree right from the factory. Glass tint makes a difference too. I would change the bottle and orfice. Enough charge to run purge and charge fully. Always got 40 degrees out of the ducts. Keeping window clean reflex’s heat. Told farms, a windex bottle with window wash in the morning and noon. I got as much as 10 degrees between clean and dirty.

No wonder 134a hardly cools properly in tropical/humidity climates. Ozone layer damage i believe it causes is insignificant

pretty sure the newer one is R1234yf for newer cars after 2017 the old one was R134a
