@mentallyfitkid: When your child gets pushed out of a friend group… it cuts deep. 💔 And everything in us wants to fix it. Call the parent. Talk to the school. Make it right. But the truth is… we can’t control other people. What we can do is stay close, listen, and keep speaking truth to our kids, especially when they’re hurting. Because these moments matter more than we realize. Their confidence is being shaped in these moments. And no matter what was said or done… it does NOT define who they are, and it does NOT change their value. If you’re raising a middle schooler… you’re not alone in this. 💛 #middleschool #mentallyfitkid #friendshipdrama #schoolcounselor #MomsofTikTok

Unfortunately this just happened to my daughter but an adult- one of the moms- was telling the other girls to not be friends with my daughter. It’s very sad!

Friendships change in middle school. My son was pushed out of friend group from neighborhood and elementary school when they went to sixth grade. He was hurt by it, but had other friends. A lot of the time maturity levels are different at this time.

Man I lost my 5 person friend group senior year of high school. 3 of them decided to kick one girl out of our homecoming group after YEARS of friendship. I went with her and invited some friends that had already graduated. We made our own group. I was exiled as well for this. All because one person decided after being her friend since elementary that she was annoying. We never spoke to them again. We’re in our 30s now

My daughter went through this in middle school and freshman year of high school. She finally found a solid friend group sophomore year and was absolutely thriving. Fast forward to today and there are 33 days until graduation and she is being excluded from so many things. She tried talking to one friend who said she understood why her feelings are hurt but absolutely nothing has changed. I’m heart broken for her.

My daughter is in high school. Bullied terrible in middle school and now high school has severe social anxiety. Her “friends” leave her out on some occasions when they all hang out but exclude her. It’s terrible! I keep encouraging her to make other friends but with social anxiety it’s difficult for her too

I tell my kids friendships will come and go their entire lives! It’s part of living. And they themselves outgrow people and move on. It’s hurtful to be on the other end I realize when they are teens.

Recently just had a sit down with the parents and their daughter along with my daughter. It was a lot of she/said he/said and they both realized that they don’t need or wantto be friends but they need to be cordial with each other.

when my daughter was in elementary/junior high there was one girl I banned from coming over or my daughter going to her house. There were far too many frenemy things going on. I didn’t care for what they brought out in each other. Told my daughter why and I personally feel it has helped her see when people aren’t really her friend and how to manage her own responses. She has a much healthier friend group now. She def was annoyed with me for awhile though

Brutal! My son is going through it right now and it’s been heartbreaking as a mama to watch! It happened overnight!💔 BUT I know our healthy conversation are helping us both. He is a strong kiddo with a good heart. That I am confident in!

As a former director and teacher, the middle school years are very challenging for both girls and boys. Middle schools aren’t doing enough to help those children that are struggling socially.

ive noticed my kid doesn't have great social skills. he is so reserved that he isnt receptive to people trying to socialize with him. he has a small friend group although he is excellent at academics and athletics. I'm so scared he wont have close friendships 😭

I encourage us ALL to work to have multiple friend groups! I learned this lesson when I was young, late teens and that shaped me as an adult. I am sooooo grateful for that lesson too❤️

My daughters friends did this in 5th grade after years of friendship bc a newer girl turned on her.It was so painful to watch & my daughter was told by the counselor to just keep trying.. i told her absolutely not. It’s been a year and she honestly hasn’t gotten over it. I can see her become so tense and nervous when we run into any of them. She has new friends but i can tell she’s nervous to really put herself out there

Nope I was quiet with my son in middle school and now he is damaged from so many years of toxic bullying. I am standing up for my daughter. I will get the bully’s suspended or expose them for what they are doing. The problem is parents think their kids are perfect and don’t see it without receipts. So I am saving and documenting everything. Then if they come after my child like they keep threatening I have proof. Okay maybe my case is a little more than being excluded from a friend group. Mine kid is getting bullied by half the school. 🙏

As a dad to a middle school girl, my advise is to accept that no adult is qualified to navigate the social politics of 11 year old girls. You want to step in and fix things. But you are not capable of doing that.

My daughter got pushed out of her friend group in high school. It completely and utterly devastated her. It was brutal to watch as a parent. She’s now finishing her first year of college and is completely thriving!!!! She learned so much about herself from that heartbreak.
