I rarely meet anyone who truly tries to be kind. I myself often try my best (or at least I think) to be kind and to respect people; I try to take into account their beliefs, thought processes, and perspectives. Although I try my best, not many others do, and I often think about how unfair it is that I do my best and people around me behave toward me as if I were trash. When I do meet someone with genuine kindness, I stick with them, I try to see their interests, how they behave around others, and how they are as a moral person. I'm not trying to do this to get attention, or even to put out a good word for myself, I'm putting this here as a way to see what qualities I'd want in a friend, partner, and myself.

The fact that you can be awarded for being kind is insanity to me. I’ve been countlessly awarded ‘kindness’ awards throughout all of school. Even though I should be proud of myself for getting awarded, I always end up feeling sadden or angered by it. It gives me a reminder that there are so much horrible people out in the real world, that no one knows basic empathy, sympathy or overall how to be kind nice to others. Either way, thank you for posting this, so much people need to see this nowadays, and I’m sorry for this tangent.
