I was allowed to go to one sleepover that wasn't at a family members house before I was an adult, and I knew that friend for 6yrs before I was allowed to sleep over. As a child/teen I thought it was super unfair that I never got to sleep over at friends houses, but as an adult I am thankful of how diligent my mom was in keeping me safe.

As humans we have instincts for a reason. They keep us safe when we listen and speak up. I'd pull the other mom aside and talk to her calmly about the situation and assure her that her daughter is welcome at my home and she is welcome at my home, and that I'm open to getting to know her husband but my daughter will not be around him.

and this is why my kids aren't allowed to sleep out! we also have an SOS code if my kids are out and need to be rescued. they'll contact us and mention McDonald's, as soon as we hear that word we're coming to get them!
