do max current is 120V/7.1ohm = 17A. 16.7A reading is expected. This is near 15A breaker. Cable is on the roll so there is also something with magnetic field and alternating current. Maybe alignment with current and voltage gets shifted a bit so power on the fuze is smaller then it would be if normal current flows through.

bifilar coil what is interesting is the way it’s wired it cancels out the inductance since the conductors will couple if you hook the hot on one end and neutral on the other wire the other two together they will not couple and you make a really good magnet. The way it is wired just makes it a resistor. All about how the current flows.
