@i2c_jason: Yes, you can manufacture bottom dollar cheap stuff in USA and earn an engineering rate. But you have to do it as a solo entrepreneur or very small lean team.
Just make sure you have the power for machines lol. I got this injection molding machine off Facebook marketplace for a good price but I didn’t think to verify voltage. It’s configured for 440v now I need to figure out how to get it to its 220v configuration

If you were to design yourself a die set that was hinged and had stops on three sides to properly align the small slab and you made a shorter distance for your press to move you could Mass manufacture those in a matter of seconds and sell them to all of the people that make the little miniature Farms for the farm shows. You can sell those little things probably for two or three dollars a piece or possibly even more for barn Roofing and whatnot. If you took a step further and made a curved one you could build Silo wall sections or grain bin wall sections for the same exact community. You could probably far exceed $150 an hour

Asking again for you to make a video on how, where, who, what, etc. on buying used machines. I want to do what you do but I’m not calling up Amada or Tormach to do it. I have no clue where to find used “discarded” machines.

I would think with not a lot of work you could come up with some kinda layout jig and get the work closer to the cylinder you cut the time down by 4x. or am I crazy?

Limit switch to stop it on the up stroke so it doesn’t have to travel full stoke to do 1/2” of work?

The best possible way to improve DFM (design for manufacturability) is by using the machines you design component parts to be made from. This is the essence of what we’ve lost in America.

I buy 500 stamped metal Bic lighter covers a year. No one makes them in the US. I pay $2.35 each. China. I’d pay more for US made. Also brass lockets. Rio grand has hydraulic stamping dies for those. I buy hundreds of those as well.
