Glen Lyon is Scotland's longest enclosed glen, running 34 miles (55 km) through Perthshire from Loch Lyon to Fortingall. Known as one of Scotland's most beautiful, remote, and "lonely" glens, it is a designated National Scenic Area characterized by a narrow, single-track road running along the River Lyon, surrounded by high mountains, steep sides, and ancient, untracked woods. Key Aspects of Glen Lyon: Location & Access: Situated in Perthshire, it runs from Bridge of Balgie/Fortingall in the east to Loch Lyon in the west. It is accessed by a single-track road described as "lonely and lovely". Scenery & Features: The glen is noted for the river's rocky gorges, the ruins of Carnbane Castle, and the 17th-century "Roman Bridge" near a waterfall.
