@thelibertypirate: The SAVE Act sounds simple, all you have to do is prove citizenship to vote. But when “proof” requires time, money, and paperwork, it doesn’t affect everyone equally. Election integrity should protect the system and the voter. #SaveAct #VotingRights #ElectionIntegrity #Democracy #WeThePeople
I'm 42, a disabled combat vet, and I've never had a passport. except for going overseas during combat operations with the Army, I've never left the USA. so me being a passport to prove I've lived here my whole life IS a tax on me.

making election day a holiday may backfire and make it even harder for minimum wage workers. federal holidays like MLK Jr day, presidents day, memorial day etc. all end up being high volume days at restaurants and retail stores. workers end up working on those days even when they are not normally scheduled that day of the week. high volume days many times include crazy long 10 to 12 hour shifts.

I just had to show my social and my W-2 with my full social to get a real ID but if I had to register, I couldn’t use a real ID for the save act.make that make sense

If you're born in NC you have to get your birth certificate from the county you're born in. I had to get a new license when I moved to Ohio and needed my birth certificate, which was lost in the move. I tried to order it but there was a 6 month backlog so I had to drive 1000 mile round trip just to get my birth certificate

It isn’t free when I have to get a copy of my divorce decree to get a drivers license because the one I’ve been using and renewing every year since I was 16 is no longer valid. Once again costing money.

Umm… as a single mom I don’t have the money nor the time to get a passport (almost $200 is a lot), if I had to get a new birth certificate I’d have to travel pretty much half way across my state to buy it( again close to $200 for gas and fees). Oh and fun fact since I was married and my last name is no longer the same as the one my birth certificate I would HAVE to get a passport because my real id, that I paid for, wouldn’t be considered valid. So yeah the save act sucks

I think it should be an election week, were employers are required to give their employees one paid day off reimbursed by the government in the form of a tax break. This way people can go to the polls in ways that don't inconvenience them or other people.

Unless I can do *everything* online... I would be screwed. Born, married, divorced, and remarried each in different states - military dependent life.

I still had my original birth certificate my mom got right after I was born, and it wasn't valid to get my passport. I had to get a more detailed version which cost more money.

it's a right to vote. we should not have to risk our jobs or income to take off from work to do it. If we have to pay possibly hundreds and wait months for the paperwork. than it's a poll tax

As someone who works with the elderly who have little family support or resources, getting their birth certificate can be difficult, same with any ID.

to link my current name to my birth certificate I need my first marriage license, divorce documents, and second marriage license. I had to pay almost $50 for a certified copy of my divorce documents. I still need to get a copy of my first marriage license. Luckily, I live in the county where that happened.
