Might be a smart idea to look into POTS if the heart races and makes you need to pass out in the shower/when at an incline and it doesn’t happen when you are horizontal

This is exactly how my POTS went undiagnosed from the ages of 12-30. Every medical professional insisted it was anxiety no matter how many times I said it felt like my heart.

Doctors like to blame it on anxiety not taking into account the SEVERE anxiety it causes for you to randomly start having these episodes and symptoms that no one understands

EKG’s are a second in time. A holter monitor would be better. They have newer versions that stick to you for like 2 weeks. They’re annoying but it can be more definitive than an EKG. Not trying to scare you, but this caught my attention because showering used to put me into arrhythmia… as did exercising. Arrhythmia can feel like anxiety. Conversely, I suppose it could also be anxiety. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this and I hope you figure it out soon.

As everyone else is saying, it’s sounding like POTS. However, POTS is also more common for people with hEDS, which can also cause hearing loss. I have hEDS and it caused all sorts of issues with my ears and hearing. Might be worth looking into both.

This sounds like a very strong panic attack. I'm so sorry it happened to you.
All of this what you describing is how my agoraphobia started, so please talk to the therapist. Even if you don't think hearing loss affected you, who knows how it did subconsciously.

Hi I’m a 30yr old that was diagnosed with POTS at 18yrs old. These are literally all my symptoms. I also have regular intermittent hearing loss. Diagnosed with anxiety/panic disorder before POTS. My symptoms never improved until I treated the POTS.

The more you talk about this the more im reminded of POTs, it’s a disease that makes it so your body can’t regulate pressure changes and so your blood pressure drops when you get up, change altitude, change temperature, might be something to look for, I think a tilt table test can help diagnose

I know a lot of people are saying POTS and definitely get checked, but I’m 30 and I’ve had this happen to me during several really stressful events in my life. Nervous system activation and fight or flight is so intense and makes your body do so many crazy debilitating things. Keep prioritizing nervous system regulation and slow gentle exposure therapy to get yourself acclimated again. It’s so hard 🤍

I totally understand the frustration with having health issues despite doing everything “right”. It is very difficult and no one talks about it. 🩵 Just remember, you are not an inconvenience to other people and you are also not alone in your struggle. I hope that it gets better for you. Girl you should see a cardiologist and wear a heart monitor. I had to a couple yrs ago and it wasn’t that bad and it gave me the answers I needed.

A 24hour+ holter monitor (ECG) would be helpful to try and capture any abnormalities. An echo eventually too.

Dealing with something as messed up as losing your hearing at a young age and the nightmare that is the US healthcare system is enough to induce anxiety in anyone.

My untreated anxiety led to a panic disorder after a particularly stressful time in my life. On a low dose SSRI and it’s mostly taken care of, with fast-acting meds as a backup.

I've wanted to say something for the past like 3 videos of not so great stories. And I REALLY can't think of anything valuable to say, but I hope everything works out eventually. If I have a sense of who you are it's that you're an insanely strong person who will overcome this

I'm not trying to invalidate your experience at all but being aware of what's happening can cause you to be in a kind of "expecting" mode, like in a state of fear that it'll happen again and that can trigger it happening again, I understand that it's so hard, but I'd recommend trying to calm yourself down and think "okay, so this has happened before, I'm okay, I'm safe, I'm not going to die" and kind of "get used to it" (as bad as it sounds) but what I'm trying to say is, try to accept the fact that it might happen so you don't get in a loop of "anticipating=> triggering=> happening=> anticipating"

I don't know if this is what is happening, but SOMETIMES, panic/anxiety settles in as a healing stage when you're recovering from a deep depression/dissociation that has lasted for a multitude of years.

Hi - Last year I was diagnosed with profound hearing loss (SSHL specifically) and IST (a form of dysautonomia like POTS). Both likely triggered by a virus. I know exactly what you’re going through and I’m so sorry!! It’s scary and overwhelming, but please know it will not be like this forever. And you’re not alone 🩷🩷🩷

I would also consider looking into Autoimmune as well, I am not trying to tell you what to do or what you have, you have a great handle on this and it sounds like great doctors. I just had a weird mix of heart palpitations and bad circulation, just random things, it ended up being an Autoimmune Disease (Celiac). I had no idea gluten was my issue.
