Man. This cylinder covered everything we fucking talked about. Overtorquing the rod and not resealing it or doing the job right

Always do piston guide rings and head gland bushings, I see the same issues from time to time.

If you sent a ram to hydraulic shop you'd expect them to know this right, and do it right. Is it laziness or just saving a bit of cost to make a little more profit?

the cat cylinders are notorious for people not replacing the guide bushings and the bushings on the cylinder eyes.

Rebuilt is such a loose term now. Resealed=rebuilt.

I had a similar issue with a 540D log Skidder. Customer had a fly by night shop reseal the cylinder in the field 3 times in 15hrs. I went out and determined cylinder was going to need to be removed because the fish eye bushing in the barrel was roached. After disassembly found they never replaced the seals in the gland which is where it was leaking from. This is an old enough cylinder that has leather stacked seals. The wiper seal still had paint on it, so it wasn’t replaced. Just kills me that they didn’t take the time to get the proper seal kit!

I have never touched the bushing and resealed many cylinders. And I have never had one leak on me. And I use hydraulic oil and warm the oil with a torch underneath for the hard Centre seal. Then clamp them. Zero issues

The over torque is what irks me. It doesn’t need to be tightened to 30k Ft lbs. smooth brains just run it down in the bench until it stops.
