This story reminded me of one of my favorite quotes: “We just get the one life, you know. Just one. You can't live someone else's or think it's more important just because it's more dramatic. What happens matters. Maybe only to us, but it matters"

I was a server.. one day a woman came in alone, she was particular where she wanted to sit, in the back room (closed at the time) at a half circle booth. I was fortunate to be her server, it was slow that day, I was able to talk and laugh with her. By the end, she told me it was her first wedding anniversary without her husband. She came to their favorite restaurant, sat at their booth, and was so thankful I was her person. she told me that she had never laughed so hard, and she felt like he sent me to her. I will never forget that moment

Mildred did the hardest job on earth. Raised 4 boys alone and made them into strong, independent, successful men! All while working, buying a home, struggling, and still persevering! Moms who never stop loving and doing their best for their children are HEROES in my book! I wish I still had mine. 18 was too young to lose her. I thank God for her every day of my life! 🥰

Omg! They need to do this everywhere!
When i was in public school, we had Grand Friends. We would go once a month and spend an hour learning some sort of skill or craft from a senior. It was beautiful, and I learned so much.

Elderly people have the most amazing stories! I used to love listening to my Grandparents stories of when they were young. I fear we won't get these stories to much longer. 💜💕

I love this! As a caregiver, I call myself a story collector. We can learn a whole lot from past generations if we sat and listened.

My grandma’s name was Mildred. Gramps called her Millie. She would attend my sport events even when she was barely able to walk. She was there for my high school graduation but unfortunately passed away before I graduated college.
