@dailysciencedose6: Licking your eyes might sound like a strange “natural cleaning” trick, but it’s far from safe. While saliva does contain some antibacterial properties, the human mouth is also full of bacteria that don’t belong anywhere near your eyes. Introducing these microbes can easily irritate the delicate surface of the eye instead of helping it. In some rare cases, moisture from saliva might temporarily wash away dust or dryness, but the risk outweighs any benefit. Your eyes already have a built-in cleaning system—tears—which protect, lubricate, and remove harmful particles much more effectively and safely than saliva ever could. The biggest concern is infection. Bacteria from the mouth can lead to conditions like redness, swelling, or even serious eye infections. So while it might seem harmless or even helpful, licking your eyes is more likely to cause damage than do any good. Stick to clean water or proper eye drops if you need relief. #SurvivalSkills #DeepSea #Engineering
