It’s been almost a week and somehow the pain is still here. It hurts to breathe, it hurts to think about us and some moments it feels like my chest physically hurts from missing you. But what hurts the most is that, at the end of all of this you’re still my best friend. We’re still friends but I can’t call you my boyfriend anymore. I can’t call you baby or my boy. I can’t tell you “I love you” in the same way anymore even though every part of me still wants to. I still catch myself thinking about marrying you. I still think about all the things I imagined for us, all the little moments and the future I thought we were going to have. And then reality hits again and it hurts all over. The hardest part is that I haven’t stopped loving you. I just lost the right to love you in the way I used to. You’re still my friend. You’re still someone I care about more than I know how to explain. And maybe that’s why this hurts so much because I didn’t lose you completely.
