I live in one of 15 counties in the entire state even require emissions testing. Here in Denton County, my emissions test was $15. Total cost for my registration? $90. For comparison: I had the same vehicle registered in Colorado last year no emissions test required and my tags cost me $625. And it gets better. I haven’t even registered my 2025 Land Cruiser in Texas yet, but in Colorado that thing ran me $1,900 in tags. Texas is insanely cheap compared to Colorado.

I just moved back to Texas after living in North County San Diego for 30 years. I paid $280 for registration on my 2015 GLA (not including the smog test). Once I got rid of that piece of junk, I bought a 2011 CRV, my registration on that was $210. Our area had some of the highest property taxes (plus special assessment taxes that alone added up to an additional $12,000 a year) and the worst infrastructure (we had a sinkhole on the 78 freeway that they just put cones around for 8.5 months). I feel like under the current system we never just own anything outright we're just continously leasing everything

ya in az we have a sliding scale every year based on the value of the car...I had a shitty beater that was less 100 to register. bought a new csr...only 30k, nothing crazy. 450 annual reg

poor ppl get taxed too much, the rich are just chilling with their tax breaks and subsidies. I don’t actually mind getting taxed as long as it goes back to the people but that’s no longer the case
