@naomibabybu: What do you think? See @BillFromUnicef speaking about looksmaxxing and @CONSUMING reflecting on beauty and transhumanism who both inspired this video. I also forgot to mention just how much western beauty ideals have affected Asian beauty standards. This is such a vast and intricate topic. There’s way too much to cover and just a few minutes! #korean #beauty #fypシ゚ #fypviralシ
I’m soo tired I just wish we could see each others soul I wish beauty never mattered that much ….

I’m obsessed with this concept and I appreciate you speaking on this. As a licensed cosmetologist and MUA I honestly think filters are also a huge issue.

btw, iam living in Korea right now, I feel like the obsession with looks is way more exaggerated on social media than it actually is in real life

I don’t think this has anything to do with South Korea at all tbh. At least in Europe, the beauty standard is totally different from Korean beauty standards. What has happened has nothing to do with Korea, but with Instagram, TikTok and the normalisation of filters. People want to look like their filter version.

the rise of tiktok has likely led to an almost globalization of beauty standards too. movements like body positivity started losing all traction when the internet no longer became predominately american/western. in the last like 5-10 years we’ve seen a lot more soft power influence from east asian countries, india, south america, etc. it’ll be interesting to see how culture changes in 5-10 years as these countries continue to grow

I actually think it’s going in reverse - people are prizing natural beauties more as plastic surgery has become incredibly accessible to literally everyone
