But wouldn't I save money paying today's prices vs future higher prices?

Cremation services can give families the closure that they may need with half the cost of burial. What, in my opinion are the soulless direct disposers are out there and available. Sure. Can they be an option to help reduce the cost of course a loss? Yes. I am not opposed to options to help people. Not at all. Just please please don’t vilify ALL funeral homes based on Tik Tok videos. We are people with families just like everyone else and believe it or not WE experience loss same as anyone. So don’t think we have no idea what’s happening to you is something we are so far removed from that we don’t understand the feeling.

I so disagree. I prepaid my cremation. This locks the price. Hopefully I will live another 40 years. I’ve saved $20,000+ dollars. My lawyer has a copy of my prepaid cremation. All prepaid arrangements are transferable. I am sure it’s protected by law.

Good to know. I’ve planned what I want and was going to pay for it ahead of time but you bring up some valid points I hadn’t considered.

Kentucky places pre-need funds into a Funeral Service Trust that can be transferred between funeral service providers if the family decides to switch providers.

Even an irrevocable contract (for Medicaid) doesn’t tie you to a specific funeral home. You might lose your price guarantee if you change but you do not lose your investment. The money isn’t “gone.” This video is weird and disappointing.

if you pre pay your money goes into a trust. plus it locks you in to the prices of today. So if you die in 30 years from now, who knows what the prices will be.

We use Peking Insurance and I absolutely love it because we have had families move away, but they are able to still use that insurance policy

Prearranged funerals can be transferred. Unless it’s irrevocable, it’s the family’s money. We do it all the time.

My Mom was buried yesterday, she didn’t preplan but had an insurance policy that was to pay for her final expenses. We knew her wishes and did it all after she passed. Even what she wore she had prepared for.

I am a preneed counselor. All of our policies go into a third party insurance policy which the client owns. If they move, they can take it with them. I’d we go out of business, they can take the policy to another funeral home. Under law, a funeral home cannot hold funds for a preneed.
