My city Hai Phong is not even small, but it’s absolutely boring if you’re not local (even for Vietnamese from other city). We are an industrial city so no tourist at all. All I do is shopping and eating out, I go to the mall like 7 times a week. Thankfully, the governor understand, they built like 10 malls here, without them I would be depressed

ignore most of the advices from people living in big cities tbh. If they say you should avoid tourist traps then it's fine. But if they say a certain place has nothing to do, too small, etc. then just ignore them and go ahead with your plan, especially if that is a place close to nature. I don't want to generalize but a lot of people living in big cities like I am work hard so they prefer going to resorts and convenient places to relax, and their "things to do" are just cafe hopping, taking photos and clubbing really. Everywhere in Vietnam has something to offer however small it is.
