@movementgems: So many people with back pain have weak and tight hip flexors. The L Sit is one of the fastest ways to address that. The L Sit is such a powerful tool because of accessibility. Anyone can test their level right now from home at a corner of a countertop. Even if you have access to weighted hip flexor options, there’s still a strong argument for building your foundation with a full L sit first. If you can’t hold a clean 30 second L sit from the floor yet (99% of people cant), you have so much untapped strength. Most people can get there in a few weeks training the L Sit 2–3x per week. Here’s the progression we use: 1. Tucked hold: Max time x 3 sets 2. Halfway Bent Tucked Hold: Max time x 3 sets 3. L Sit March: 50 reps per leg 4. L Sit Hands Elevated: 30 sec x 3 sets 5. L Sit From Floor: 30 sec x 3 sets After any level, hit a couch stretch for 2 sets of 90 seconds per leg. Only move onto the next level when you can complete your current level with clean form. When working on a level, take as many breaks as needed to achieve the full duration required. P.s. Cramping is normal. That’s just your hip flexors learning to turn on. Work just below the cramp, stretch after, repeat. Cramps will soon turn into contractions.
