I think one of the biggest things for me is that no matter the intentionality or the reasons behind the behavior, holding other people accountable is one of the most important things we can do. I think a lot of people take others holding them accountable as a personal attack, which only vastly limits their growth as a person. I prioritize taking in criticism and truly evaluating it and trying to understand it rather than immediately trying to defend myself. It sounds so simple but it’s so rare to find in other people and I can confidently say that it’s made me so so much happy as a person and has repaired and helped many of my relationships. “I saw raised this way” is really just another way of saying, “I don’t want to self reflect and do the inner work to change since I’m comfortable just the way I am and don’t value your feedback enough to take it to heart”

When my husband began to unpack all this it really made him so much more happier and fulfilled. He is still learning and unpacking, but seeing him work on that while giving our son a safe space to learn and grow and teaching him to respect and value women is just incredible.

our parents raise us and sometimes don't teach us the best habits or low key traumatise us but at some point you have to decide okay but that's when I was younger, I'm older now, I know better and now it's on me if I continue to act a certain way because of my parents. we can't be 30+ and still use that as a reason as that point its on us and not our parents any more

It’s not your fault when you’re socialized into it. But as soon as you become aware of it; it is 100% your responsibility to better yourself

Excuse me, why is is the mothers fault? I think it’s more the fathers fault for not showing what a real man should be. Always blaming a woman no matter what
