In 2021 I rapidly lost my vision over the course of a few days. Unfortunately, my response to severe stress is to remain extremely calm and move with absolutely zero urgency. In triage they put me in front of one of those letter posters and said “okay what letter is this?” And I responded with “oh! Actually, I don’t know. I can’t see you 🤷”. Got real popular REAL quick

I’m an ER doctor. The quickest reliable way to get attention in my ER would be to become unresponsive, pulseless and apneic (not that I would recommend it).

my dad went in for possible stroke or heart attack (numb arm, dizzy, feeling 'off', etc.) and said that he was already back and CT scan done by the time my mom had come in from parking, ended up being a herniated disk

I was septic with a 104 fever and I said my legs and hands and neck are tingling so I got popular real fast bc that was my body shutting down apparently 😳

went to urgent care after a car crash, they sent me to the ER (rural town on a Thursday, not much going on) walked in, was told to wait, called back quickly, everything was chill. They asked what happened. Everyone stopped in their tracks when I told them it was a head on 50mph+ crash. Doc stepped out of the room and called a code😅 I got popular real fast. (I was fine, just a busted thumb).

my son has severe asthma. so I monitor his oxygen at home with one of those finger things. one time his o2 dropped to 85 and his lips turned blue. he passed out a couple times on the way to the hospital. but woke up when we got there. as soon as I said his oxygen level they checked his oxygen and he was at 82 the nurse goes" hey Hun your ok but we're going to get some friends in here real quick." he was in the hospital for two days on oxygen because Everytime they'd take him off his oxygen would drop to the 80's. turns out he has some scaring on his lungs from how many times he's had bronchitis. (asthmatics have a higher risk of getting pneumonia and bronchitis jsyk.) we've had to go back a lot especially during spring and fall. now some of the e.r. nurses know him by name
