Justin Cooley quit his job as a deputy with the Adams County sheriff’s Office in Ohio after he raided Afroman’s home with other deputies in 2022, including his father, and Afroman posted songs and comments on the Internet making fun of theme. Cooley and his father, Shawn Cooley, nicknamed Officer Pound Cake by Afroman, along with five other sheriff’s officials sued the rapper and singer for defamation and invasion of privacy through false light. The trial ended Wednesday with a full defense verdict for Afroman, but I can’t let it pass without ensuring my followers can see at least a few highlights from Cooley’s testimony. In this clip, Afroman’s lawyer David Osborne questions Cooley about his belief that Afroman calling him a dipshit with a receding hairline is legally defamatory. “Can you tell me what fact about you that receding hairline or dipshit refers to, please?” Obsorne asked. “I’m sorry?” Cooley said. “What private fact of yours does that refer to?” Obsorne asked. “I mean, there's a picture of me and let’s see here … talking about, ‘I wouldn't trust him with methamphetamine, crack ass alone in my house.’ So I find that pretty insulting," Cooley answered. “So that's the that statement is what you're suing over?” Obsorne asked. No. I told you, this is one of many,” Cooley said. He said Obsorne keeping “trying to make it singular.” “I’m telling you, it’s, it's not singular, it's plural, okay?” Cooley said. “And so one of them is dip shift. One is receding hairline,” Obsorne said. “Yeah,” Cooley said. “And the other is meth head?” Osborne asked. “Yes,” Cooley answered. “Is there any more? Osborne asked. “Well, when he's sitting there making accusations against the organization that I at that time was working for, destroying community trust, all based off of a lie, that's what ultimately stopped me,” Cooley answered. “And that's community trust in the Adams County Sheriff's Department, correct?” Osborne asked. “Yes,” Cooley answered.
