I have a better hack for you. I pack everything without vacuum sealing on my way there, and use the vacuum pack on my way back to create extra space for things you buy on the trip

Place each bag on the previous vacuumed bag before you take the air out! They’ll fit together like puzzle pieces (since they get harder to manhandle without air lol)

Put the bags in the backpack before vacuuming and they conform to the shape of the backpack then put the best one on top so they interlock. I got 3 thick Irish sweaters and a Shaw home this way along with the clothes I brought with me.
