@nomadretreat: Vientiane is the quietest capital city in all of Southeast Asia. Kong Lor Cave is a 7km river cave cutting straight through a mountain. Si Phan Don is 4000 islands scattered across the widest point of the Mekong. Nong Khiaw's limestone cliffs rise straight out of the river with no warning. The Bolaven Plateau hides waterfalls that drop 200 meters into untouched jungle. The Plain of Jars is covered in megalithic stone vessels and nobody knows who built them. The Thakhek Loop passes through karst landscapes that look completely uninhabited. Vang Vieng sits inside a valley of vertical rock towers reflected in the Nam Song River. Kuang Si Falls run electric turquoise from the minerals dissolved in the water. This year in March April, I visited part of Laos : Vientiane, Louang Prabang and Nong khiaw rise and I am of course planning and coming back because I haven't seen everything from this magnificent country.
