well if you already have to jack up your car and crawl under it to change the oil filter you already under there you might as well take the drain plug out and drain the oil

So your Mercedes, BMW, Audi and a couple others with no dipstick tube, how do you do it? Oh, the old climb under an remove all the shields that cover the drain plug. You should mention "Only Cars With Dipstick"
