@maddisonglover_: my skin journey so far ✿ (and what actually helped me heal my perioral dermatitis). I came off the pill at the start of 2022 and around six months later the gut issues it had been masking started showing up on my skin. I tried facials and expensive skincare, but it got worse. I saw a naturopath who helped me focus on addressing the root cause rather than just treating symptoms. Here’s what made the biggest difference for me: - balanced meals are a non-negotiable. Whole-food protein, carbs and healthy fats at every meal. - prioritising protein at breakfast (30–40g+) helps stabilise my hormones and blood sugar throughout the day. - 8+ hours of sleep. I aim to be asleep before 10:30pm whenever possible. - lowering stress through walks, pilates, regulated strength training, and slowing down daily routines. - reducing alcohol significantly. - drinking 2L+ of water daily. - simplifying skincare: gentle cleanser + moisturiser, and SPF. Less really was more at the time. - calendula cream supported healing during my perioral dermatitis flare-ups. - oh and…sugar in moderation. I love a sweet treat but ideally I have as less as possible due to it being an inflammatory ingredient. Sharing what worked for me in case it helps someone else ♡ #skinjourney #perioraldermatitis #skinhealing #acne #postpillacne
