It was composed by Iraqi Sufi composer MULLAH ‘UTHMAN AL-MUSILI (1892-1923). The song was in Arabic but it was introduced to turkey when Mullah moved to Istanbul (where song was changed from its original religious element). He actually introduced the Iraqi Maqam to turkish music like the Mansuri and Mousilli Maqams (know in Turkey as al-Hafidh). He even had the honor of performed for Sultan Abdul Hameed.

ohhh my God...you release tears on my eyes .. i am a Greek but that was a favourite song of my Grandpa who was 13years old in 1920 on the exchange of population among Turkey and Greece. as a child i had heard it soo many times that i learn the Turkish lyrics!! so now you understand how much i love this song!!🥰😭😭😭

In Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria, we sing the lyrics of a love song to this tune by the words ghazaleh tab jourhee which roughly means your beauty heals wounds.
