Downtown Calgary is mostly just offices so no one hangs out there at night. You need to go to 17th Ave or the Beltine to find nightlife

You are closer to business side of downtown Calgary. East village is getting better but they are still trying to establish it. But you are more or less in east village. The main areas of energy are like 17th, 10th. Portions of 4th and 5th street.
