I never crack a spine, I read all my books but I like to keep them looking brand new so this is such a bizarre take by the commenter 😅 its not that hard to look after books if u want to keep them pristine!

also, what does the condition of a book have to do with whether or not you read the book? I once read a library book and bought a physical copy afterwards...does that mean I have to reread it in order to add it to my wrap up?

The only books I had that were cracked were Harry Potter 1-5, which took 7 years of frequent reading.

i was always taught growing up not to crack the spines super aggressively because it damages the binding. obviously with some books it’s kinda inevitable but i don’t generally make it a mission to crack my book spines. but i guess we all have our own ways of doing things

also you can have the book (physical copy) but read it as ebook on kindle of phone, that is what im doing almost every time 😅

the idea that paperbacks must crack is so silly. yes, books like penguin black classics crack easily. but then i have so so many paperback books whos spines are completely intact after the same treatment of reading that the penguin ones got.
