For real! I was expecting something like ddaeng or daechwita, blending modern and traditional Korean sounds.

As an ex-army I came in with no expectations. This is the most experimental they've gotten and the album feels decently cohesive. There's plenty of tracks here that aren't for mainstream appeal but I agree that this could've been more after so long.

I think they didn’t have as much creative control over this project as we are led to believe and that’s part of why it’s falling flat

I do think they rushed to come back like they didn’t even wait for hun to get better and u can tell w his lack of presence in the album. I feel like they should’ve waited/ found their sound again nd made a more intentional album

why do some army's do not respect other army's opinions, like guys giving feedback about the songs does not mean they are disrespecting the BTS or hating on BTS but rather they are giving the group a chance for improvement and just saying their thoughts about the songs

i’d say this is more about their identity as korean artists, they can still be considered korean without the need to always play into people’s expectations of what makes them korean to be korean, if i’m interpreting it correctly. this album is more of a homage of their Musical roots, which were heavily inspired and influenced by hiphop and rap, from black culture and music, hence why it sounds so “western” than expected. they had way more black producers than any other album this comeback, and recorded it in LA, which is where they started predebut as well in the production of this album. they’ve also said this comeback is going to be very different, and no.29 being in the middle of the album is supposed to signify the “new beginning”. for me personally, as someone who has followed their work closely for their part 2 aka solo work, i don’t think they’ve lost much of their sound. each track to me has a resemblance to each of their solo work during the past 4 years, so it wasn’t as jarring to me as someone who hasn’t caught up with them since the last group album. (side note but bts themselves have already said they’ve transcended the kpop sound many many years ago, so personally i dont think it’s equal to compare them to kpop standards of music). to me this album is like a collaboration between their bts sound and each solo’s sound, if that makes sense. i think it’s impressive how they went about and managed to combine their intention of their korean identity, hiphop influences, their group bts’s style and also their own personal styles in this album, this is why i still enjoy this album a lot imo.

What are yall talkin abt?! I’m not a bts fan or kpop fan but a casual listener and this piece of music is really good! THE ALBUM ATE, they are at THEIR BEST form, they’ve never looked so good and confident and they sound and performances are INSANELY GOOD! If u can’t enjoy what they have to give, just stay in your miserable bubble and let us have the best moments with them, sing, dance, laugh and make the most beautiful memories! We LOVE this album is their BEST ALBUM so far!

this is not my favorite album but its still pretty good. i had the same thoughts as you, "why isnt it more korean sound/culture based" but as i dive deeper & deeper into the album, its more of the aspect of them using arirang to express themselves. theyve already showed and promoted their culture multiple times and this is now a opener to them as a whole.
