In fact, one of the things I always do when I text a friend going through something is to say that I don't expect a reply. You don't have to be your best self right now ❤️

I have followed you with a keen interest in how you handle the day to day challenges. As a fellow stage 4 cholangiocarcinoma survior I root from you a place few understand. Sometimes I feel terrible because I simply don't have the words. But I do understand. You're not alone. You are loved and your energy has given you this opportunity to continue to heal. Sometimes the only thing we can do is just give ourselves that grace. I'm one scan away, one tumor marker test away, from being right back in it. I don't forget that. Never give an inch. Just don't. You do what you can everyday and understand that's what you could do that day. Stay in love with possibilities, visions of the life you always. Never lose sight. There's no short cut, and in 20 years when you look back you'll see why you were chosen.

I am a dad, a grandfather and a great grandfather. You need to let the people in your life love you. Trust them and trust them to be the judge of what they can bear. A load shared is so much reduced for all. Syd, of all people you needn’t feel any guilt or regret about what you are able to do at a given moment. Those who know you are fully aware that you always give what you can - that should not include giving what you don’t have to give. Thinking of you ❤️

A relationship isn’t always 50/50. Sometimes it’s 80/20, 60/40. Our capacities change. This is a time where friends and family are supposed to show up and do more, be a support system and offer help. You have cancer and are exhausted, you shouldn’t feel guilty.

Syd. There are 3 things I hope you do for your self, asap. 1st. Call into your job and let them know you’re going out on medical leave. 2nd. Call your Mom and let her know you’re not doing well. 3rd. Stop showing up for anything else other than your medical care as needed.
