I totally agree with you, but the modern society seems to have lost "philosophy". Nowadays it's seen just something that you study at school, something that shouldn't regard every single of us, and when someone who isn't considered a "philosopher" ,because he doesn't have a degree or has published books, tries to speak up, he usually get demotivated by others. I spend hours studying books and reflecting on what i studied, for finding new philosophical insights directly from myself, however when i define a new concept, after writing about it, many people seems distant to the dialogue and conversation because i am not considered as a philosopher. And that's the problem for me: to us what matter isn't the theory, but the status of being something or someone, and because of that we become afraid of trying and ofter being wrong. Philosophy is something that, if you decide to do, must take all your life, because in the course of it you'll always find something that will contradict your theory

People need to stop just blindly following ideas and instead absorb them and build off of them. Challenge them. Become a philosopher themselves. That is what society needs.

Agreed! Unfortunately memes/stereotypes have made ppl not take the subject seriously anymore , but I get you. Philosophy is a subject I consider to be infinite- generally just because with new people comes new ways of thinking. Also just with how technology is advancing i do think there will (hopefully) be a couple of important names in the next century or so. Im relatively new to the subject so i can’t say much, but the idea of ppl (who take the subject seriously) using previous concepts as definitive rules seems to contradict the entire point of philosophy imo. You don’t have to have these entirely “new” ideas, but you should have your own take on things. When you reference your ideas too much on a previous philosophers it can easily turn into you just reiterating their ideas instead of your own. Its important to maintain a neutral stance when looking into these things

The issue I think here, isn't necessarily that it's a circular cycle. Rather, the majority of whatever you can posit now, already has been said and debated. Originality, in a philosophical sense is incredibly difficult, simply because the majority of systems (cognitive functions, psychology, sociology, logic, ethics and virtue, etc) have been thoroughly understood. We live in a modern age now, pragmatism has (largely) taken over the need for more metaphysical approaches. While there are ideas in philosophy that haven't been explained fully, like the induction problem. Anyway, I haven't seen your take on Nietzsche, but, his ideas were pretty out there. I agree with this mostly though, philosophy is rigorous and difficult, more than the majority of people are willing to explore.

Not all professors of philosophy are philosophers in that sense (we are all philosophers to some extent), they are foremost scholars and academics. And academics in those fields are mostly occupied with literature analysis. Pure philosophy is difficult in universities and academic circles because of the rigid structures. Philosophy is inherently wild and rebellious. This is one of the reasons we see that original philosophy and thinkers are silenced, because they don’t fit the academic mould.

Although i mostly agree with most of this, it’s important to consider than many “new” philosophical ideas tends to be recycled versions with minor changes. Critiquing is simple, but being innovative in a time with many established ideas is easier said than done. This especially applies to someone as praised as Nietzsche, where his framework is seen as fundamental in existential philosophy (yes this is slightly biased.) Regardless, being original is certainly appeasing. It just takes a great deal without completely being contradictory. 🤷♂️
