@curatingambiance: The Taste File - Ep. II: The Three Layers of Taste On the difference between liking something, understanding why it works, and seeing what matters before anyone else does. A framework for the age of AI. #taste #curatingambiance
French Sociologist has already answered the question about taste, Pierre Bourdieu referred it as Habitus, taste mostly coming from your economical upbringing (class) it can be learned but there are always be an invisible barrier unless you’re in it (be upper class)

I just completed my bachelors of science in architecture, and I’ve learned that taste is really driven by curiosity and intention. It’s particularly honed by just years of experience working with constraints

great video! i feel everyone kinda has that "surface taste" where like you kinda gravitate to what looks good, then you go deeper into why it looks good because you don't want to just adopt what you see but understand why it feels good to you and reflect that to others. but then while you can understand what is predictive taste, even so, it's hard to produce it and especially for AI because there's that extra step between knowing and experiencing.

Predictive Taste. That I can get behind. I’d argue highly intelligent META / Alphabet media buyers could nudge this along with algo force

Is there a fourth area.. a not-plugged-into-zeitgiest artistic creativity that just plays with form, colour, texture to develop inherently new, interesting takes?
