I was an animator for 40 years. You don’t want your lead to rotate! You pay attention to the surface the lead is creating. You use that surface to create a steady line and then use the edge of that surface to create accent lines.

Honestly, that would probably annoy me because I like wearing the pencil down on one side and then flipping it using the sharper side for finer details
