Just a note, with the way names work in Japan the first name gets passed down not the second. Like the Monkey family, Portgas D Ace and Portgas Rouge, etc. Whats funny about that is that for Whitebeard, Newgate is actually his first name and Edward is his last name which ia confusing. It also means that descendents of Davy Jones would have the first name Davy and not the last name Jones. Basically what I’m saying is Hody Jones likely has absolutely no connection to Davy Jones

No I wouldn’t say he’s a descendant of Davy Jones. Every character in one piece without exception has their surname before their given name. So Davy Jones’ family would be the Davy family, much the same as Whitebeard being from the Edward family

I don't think Hody Jones is related to any hypothetical Davy Jones bc I just KNOW his prideful ass wouldn't shut up about it. Decken kept yapping about his own lineage, but Hody never said anything about his. So either he is and doesn't know, or it's a pure coincidence.
