@balancedmindsedu: Every year students feel enormous pressure around state testing. Many worry that if they “fail,” something terrible will happen. But in most states, these tests don’t determine grades, promotion, or transcripts for individual students. What they do impact are school and district accountability systems—things like report cards, ratings, and public data about school performance. Which raises an important question: Are we communicating clearly to kids what these tests actually mean? Or are they carrying stress that doesn’t belong to them? Curious what people think about this: How much pressure do students feel around testing in your school? 👇 #StateTesting #EducationReform #TeacherLife #SchoolAccountability #BalancedMinds
As a former teacher I will not be putting my children through state testing I will be opting them out. Testing is for the school and district and most topics don’t get hit well enough due to so many factors that these scores are not fair to the students.

Sounds like most states. That’s how it works in Utah as well. State testing is such a waste of time, money, and resources!

All about funding. Forcing teachers to teach to a test. If they just let teachers go in and teach there would be a lot less stress all around with lots of people.

Parents find out if you can opt out in your state. Don’t just assume it’s mandatory.

ugh we start big tests in 3rd and the map test in 4th. my neurospicy kid gets very nervous. we tell her as long as she tried her best and didn't give up the actual score doesn't matter to us. all the assessments and cfa's and everything is way too much!

When we did the PARCC exam, students had to pass the exam order to graduate. They were way around it with certain courses they took, but if they didnt, they didnt get a diploma
