![So I went to CHÉN Vietnamese Restaurant today. They’re located in Burnaby. I have to start by saying the food was absolutely incredible. They specialize in Northern Vietnamese food, I believe specifically Hanoi style food and my goodness, it was some of the best food I’ve had in a while! I ordered: - number 39: Bun Cha - Nem (21.75), which is the Hanoi style vermicelli noodle with grilled pork and a crispy crab parcel. This was amazing. The pork was grilled to perfection and was sitting in a house special house, the herbs were fresh, the noodles were cooked well and the crab parcel was generously packed with tasty fillings. This was such a treat and I highly recommend it! - number 10: Pho Ga Ta (16.95), the Hanoi style chicken noodle soup. Guys, the broth was incredible. Light, clear but packed with flavor. Noodles had a great texture and the chicken was absolutely delicious. By far one of the best Pho variations I’ve ever had. - For drinks, I tried the Salted Coffee (7.75) which was iced, very creamy and rich with a bold coffee taste. I also tried the Calamansi Iced Tea (6.75), refreshing and paired well with the food. - For dessert, I tried the Caramel Flan (6.50). The perfect end to round out our meal. Not too sweet, tasty and prepared well. The ambience of the restaurant was great! It got busy and honestly, for good reason. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and can say that I would definitely come back. Easily one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants to date. PRO TIP: there is free 2 hour parking at the back of the restaurant but otherwise, regular street parking for 1 hour on Hastings and there are pay meters in the area as well.
