That’s so low! But every state is different I’m sure. I’m in NY working as a preschool teacher assistant for my school district, and I bring home about $2,000 a month after taxes. $18.50 an hour.

I was an aide in every capacity (gen ed, behavior, sped) for over 15 years.... finally listened to other people and became a teacher in 2023....I quit in november 2025. As an aide you're able to cultivate a different type of relationship with the students. Becoming a teacher took away my ability to just work with children, what I do best

I'm a literacy aide and make only slightly more than that and people wonder why I stay. partly because I get to have the same schedule as my kid and partly because I really do love it!

Girllll when I first started I was making 800 a month 😆 awful but I thank God still lived with my parents so it was fine. If I made that now it wouldn’t even cover groceries, gas, and my insurance 😂😂
