As someone who just moved here 2 months ago & is in (north) Dallas and wishes I was closer to downtown dallas (AND THE CITY!) idk whyyyyy people are saying, Plano , farmers branch, even Addison (where I’m at). Plano is FAR. I mean 30+ minutes from downtown & with traffic?! Absolutely not. I say look into the surrounding areas to the downtown areas, for sure! Especially if you want that city feel without feeling too contested

If you don’t want to live downtown you probably will want to skip deep ellum because it’s busy. What I’d recommend to be close to downtown: bishop arts, uptown, lower greenville, victory park, knox/henderson, oak lawn. These are all less than 10/15 min away max. Anything further north or west there will always be traffic coming to the city.
