Man that hits so close to home I have a toddler that’s around that same age that is saying stuff he sees not in a malicious way, but listening to your video I had a baby brother that was born with a cleft lip missing palate and I couldn’t imagine going thru that; all babies are BEAUTIFUL and if I find myself there with my toddler he will be reminded of that sending you lots of love ❤️hopefully this video reminds parents to be kind

My daughter just had her lip repaired a month ago. A few days ago, a woman told her she had a beautiful smile while we were on a walk and I realized it was the first time a stranger had complimented her smile. Such complicated feelings—so happy someone noticed her beautiful new smile and so sad that the comments from strangers before this were similar to your experience and people couldn’t appreciate how special her first smile was. I am so sure your daughters smile is beautiful and she’s lucky to have a mom like you 💕

my boy is 3 and I am teaching him short easy explanations for when he's faced with questions... but it still gives me anxiety

I'm sorry. Teaching kids very early on is fundamental. There should be an immediate correction. I believe that the mom did not want to say anything in front of you to avoid making you feel worse but kids need to be corrected at the moment. My kids are 3 and 4 and they know to NEVER talk about someone's appearance, that we are all different and to be kind.

Here to show support! We have some differences too and it's so important for parents to remind their kids what's important and how to be kind to one another! It's easy to fear what might come later in life but reminding our children daily of their worth and beauty is so important! ❤️❤️

I was born with a cleft lip , when I was younger I didn’t remember anything but when I got older in school I would always get bullied and felt low of a person and it didn’t stop til middle of highschool , but now I embrace it . It makes me who I am

I’m a cleft mom and my son is 11 now. Kids started calling him flat face :( . It’s a sad thing to hear when it comes to your kids.

Tell ur baby how beautiful and strong she is everyday. My baby girl has a cleft lip and palate shes 19 months now i tell her this everyday and i am really worried about her especially my baby girl has van der woude syndrome so she has lip pits and her upper lips in the cleft side is a bit different from the right side

We have gotten a few “what’s wrong with her face” questions from young kiddos. I almost prefer that to the staring. So difficult to navigate these situations sometimes!
