As someone who pays only out of pocket it’s not any better. Many drs and healthcare places won’t let you pay out of pocket or it’s a higher price. But the reason they give discounts for out of pocket is because they make more a lot of the time than with insurance. At one of my OBGYN they made us pay cash only for a discount but overall it was more than what their insurance patients paid. I paid the hospital 10,000 the obgyn 6,700 and a specialist the obgyn wanted 4,600 and they still tried to bill me for the baby even when that 10,000 was meant to cover both of us. So think hard before you give up insurance as there are many things you cannot get without it. And they will charge you more in the long run.

Yes. Much cheaper. We’ve been paying out of pocket for decades now. Even for extreme cases it’s been much cheaper.

Yep I just dealt with this with an MRI with my insurance it would be 800 if I paid cash without insurance it was 400

The only time having insurance is now a benefit, since Obamacare, is if you have a catastrophic health/medical emergency. Because then there’s a cap per yr that you’d only have to pay. Whereas if you have no ins.. you could have a million dollars you’re responsible for …🤷🏻♀️
