yeah no... they design stations so that you can't leave through the gates without tapping in or tapping out. they also occasionally check everyone's card whilst the vehicle is in transit so you can't avoid them and if you haven't paid, you get fined.

No..?? For train stations you cant getbin of you dont tap.. for bus/tram etc someone will check sporadically and if you didnt tap before you‘ll pay a huge fine

We have free busses in my city…I mean public transit isn’t unheard of in America. It just depends on if your state hates you or not.
