Imagine being half-staffed, not getting paid for months because of the government shut down, and then this happens. This is the fault of the system not the controller and I feel so bad for everyone involved.

I would assume the Fire Truck driver didn't look both ways when crossing an active runway. Yes ATC should have seen it, but the fire truck should have also seen it too.

The ATC worker is a fault, but he was handling ground and tower which is a lot more work in LaGuardia is a very busy airport very unfortunate but ATC workers get really overworked

There was 1 guy running the entire airport. He was running ground control and air control. It’s not all his fault! Prayers for everyone involved!

It’s because the truck and the plane were on separate frequencies. So there was a communication failure.

Be aware that the radio audio given here is edited to be shorter- there were approx 15-ish seconds in between the first to second commands for the truck to stop.
