People laugh about this stuff - but I’ve been able to blend in with formal or executive environments because of these skills. It also helps me feel so much more confident in those environments, which are already stressful for those of us who weren’t raised in them. My husband was raised in a wealthy family & works with VERY wealthy people, & I work in a corporate environment with execs- he taught me & it’s completely changed my experience in formal environments…helps me blend in & look so much more polished.

If anything, most etiquettes, especially in dining, are rather helpful, efficient and practical. The utensils are positioned conveniently, and certain placements just make the dining experience easier, and cleaner.

This reminds me of how I had to teach my high school friend how to eat before she went to prom. She watched me eat one day and realized she had no table manners.

I was recently at an awards dinner and the gentleman next to me says, “ I notice you eat continental style”. Idk why he opted to pt that out but there we were. 😅

My parents put me in a class like this and this is exactly how the teacher spoke. I didn’t find it offensive she was just very matter of fact.
