@thepottymouthguru: Supporting RSD without becoming their emotional support human is a skill. Most people burn out cause no one teaches this part. ❤️🤟🏻🌿 #unfuckyourself #thepottymouthguru #adhdtiktok #rsd #boundaries @Charlotte Van Driest
Compassion without boundaries turns into burnout really fast. ❤️🤟🏻🌿

The way to deal with RSD is remarkably simple. Every time you think a thought, reword it to be positive and supportive instead of negative, fearful or critical. if you do this long enough, you literally rewire your neural.pathways to do it more. Initially it does mean stopping and starting yourself a lot until you get the hang of doing it, eventually you'll do it so quickly, the self-correction is almost automatic. it gets much easier over time. I changed my entire life for the better and brought myself out of chronic debilitating panic attacks by doing this.

I fell into an RSD hole over the weekend....your advice here helped me realize how well my partner handled it when we talked about it.... and how my self-awareness helped keep me from spinning a bigger, more damaging story out of the events.

Hm. I’m curious. Interestingly this also sounds like enneagram 4’s in unhealthy states.

thank you. You're explaining my wife's and I's relationship. so many things i say or do hurt her. she's read things into what I'm saying that I'm not and i over explain, it doesn't help, and then i start sounding frustrated and then it only makes it worse. things are so good when this isn't happening. thank you so much for the tips.

This is SO helpful! I work with a bunch of people with RSD and I’m burnt out from being in the middle trying to mediate and reassure. Not effective!

Oh this is great! I got some real bad RSD, I don't think it applies terribly to my relationship directly. Tone has been a problem and sometimes it's hard to catch the RSD. I'm hoping this will help! I feel bad about how cumbersome our communication can be because of these emotional misunderstandings.

Right, this is the first time I have heard of this but it might be what is happening to my partner. It’s destroying our family because once he goes down, and it can be the tiniest thing, he is literally gone for days, sometimes weeks. I can’t deal with it since we have two toddlers. I feel like I need to leave. It’s so difficult, I have never seen it before.
