Just a question! How are people being approved for MAID if they aren’t diagnosed with a qualifying illness? People have to apply and have to have been diagnosed with a qualifying illness. And usually track two is much harder to get approval for because of the illnesses involved.

As stated on their youralberta post about this bill: “Limit MAID eligibility to those whose natural death is reasonably foreseeable and prohibit MAID where a natural death is not reasonably foreseeable, also known as Track 2 MAID.” My Dad used Track2 MAID when his foreseeable future was unknown mortality but going to be bedridden, blind, deaf, and eventual memory loss leaving him in pain and confused while being completely dependent. Forcing someone to live in this state for any amount of time is torturous let alone a possibility of years. Track2 MAID has very strict guidelines who can use it. People need to stop conflating the issue of people not getting enough access to care with people who even with all the access would still be living in a way that most people would never want to experience.
