This part was critical for lelouch character imo… on one side Lelouch really meant what he said, rolo was an imposter and he did really hate him, but at this moment Lelouch lied to rolo, not to deceive him but to deliver the final moment of love and assurance. Although, I think Lelouch really believe the lie he said, I think he really did love rolo, and it builds on his complexity.
